Superstructure

The Superstructure of the boat is all Aluminium, and was changed from its original shape in the 1972-74 re fit.

To make it "Self righting" the engine room was enlarged and the casing was lengthened to incorporate the forward shelter (Fwd Cabin) and the aft cabin was also lengthened, large foam and fibreglass covered buoyancy added to cabin top and made completely watertight. This increase in size basically made a bigger "Air bubble" so that if she went over the fact that the areas were full of air, and of course the 2 tons of steel in the keel, made the boat self right.

There were many other changes, the removal of the Fwd mast and re-fitting on wheelhouse roof, removal of capstan and replacement with a electric windlass, moving of the original wheelhouse/engine room bulkhead and alterations to all the instrumentation, re-siting of diesel tanks etc etc.

Many of the alterations are only now becoming apparent as I slowly restore the boat.
