Deck Repairs 1

Once again various methods of repair are being undertaken. and as for the Hull is made from a Double Mahogany construction It is once again made up of two layers of planking 3/8" & 1/2" thick, with calico and white lead paste between. English oak deck beams are used in the framing.

Generally the decks are in fair order, but there is small localised rot/softness around one or two of the the deck fittings. The hatches  had not been removed for many years and there "water tightness" has gone! All 6 deck hatches have been removed, and are under repair. The 3 forward hatches that used to be for access to the Hull and air cases are to be made permanent, as they do not need to be re-opened again. The remaining 3 will have new neoprene seals, instead of the old felt and linseed oil seals.
